My New Room

I promised a week or two ago that I would post a picture of my new room set. Well, here it is.

Keep on Truckin'

Today, we were able to fix my Dodge Ram pickup truck. It turned out that all it needed was $35 in batteries and a good scrubbing. We also put Ben's training wheels back on his bike so that he could keep on riding too. Here we both are cruising down the road.

I cruised pretty far in the Ram.

My road trip was pretty long, so I was tired by the time I was done.

But, I was happy to have my truck back.

I decided it needed a wash down, so I gave it a good scrubbing.

Making Breakfast

Ever since I got my new spatula (pictured here) from Williams Sonoma, I have been a cooking maniac. I helped Mommy cook dinner on Friday night and this morning, I helped Daddy bake some scones for breakfast.

Gelato Boy

It turns out that I really like Trader Joe's chocolate gelato.

My New Carpet

As part of re-carpeting the whole house, I got new carpet in my room. You might recall the old, nasty green carpet.

Now it is a nice brown carpet that matches the carpet on the main floor and the top floor of the house.

I also re-arranged my whole room with Mommy and Daddy's help, so I'll take some pictures and post those later.

The 2007 Iowa State Fair

We seem to hit the Iowa State Fair every other year, so it was time to make the pilgrimage again.

We started off the day right - by getting loads of free stuff.

Then we got to meet and greet a lot of animals. This pig was less than 24 hours old.

Everyone had to get in on the cutout mania. This time, we were pushing diary farms.

Even Hayden joined in.

Our favorite exhibit, by far, was called Little Hands on the Farm. First, they dressed us up like farmers, with Pioneer Hi-Bred hats, aprons and farm baskets.

Then, we went from station to station doing chores on the farm.

Cameron picked an apple.

We both rode soy bio-diesel powered tractors.

Good thing we practiced milking the cow at the zoo.

In the end, we took all of our crops to market and they gave us some money that we got to spend in a store on anything from loaves of bread, ice cream treats, twinkies, candy bars, just about anything you can imagine. Guess what we picked -- bananas. The lady behind the counter almost laid an egg, as we were the only kids who didn't pick ice cream treats.

Over in the Varied Industries building (read: the Air Conditioned Free Stuff place), we met Curious George at the Iowa Public Television booth.

By then, it was time to eat. With Daddy's experience at the Iowa Turkey Federation Grill, we had to have giant drumsticks.

If you watch the motorcycle show on TV, you might recognize their work on the Farm Bureau's E85 chopper.

More cut-out photo mania!

We ended the day with the big pig.

Blank Park Zoo

After the I Cubs game, we had a nice lunch and headed over to Blank Park Zoo.

Here we are with a big leopard over our heads.

Hayden came with us through the Australian Outback exhibit, where you got to walk in the open with wallabies, which are like kangaroos.

We learned how to milk a cow, which actually came in handy later in the week.

We had a nice time looking at all of the big cats, at least until all three of the lions started to eye us.

Ben also starred in the prairie dog exhibit.

We wrapped up the day by feeding giraffes, which was awesome.

Iowa Cubs vs. The Las Vegas 51s - The Rest of the Game

Late Tuesday night, they had exchanged our tickets from the rained-out game for the double-header. So, on Wednesday morning, we were back at Principal Park for the rest of our game and the first part of Wednesday's game.

Clearly, not a lot of other people could make the day game.

But we were there.

So was Hayden.

She was so cute, they put her on the jumbo-tron. Twice.

We also got our picture taken with Grandma and Grandpa.

In the end, the I-Cubs lost the first game, but won the second. Outdoor baseball is awesome.

Iowa Cubs vs. The Las Vegas 51s

On Tuesday, we went to watch the Iowa Cubs play the Las Vegas 51s. The game was at Principal Park, which used to be called Sec Taylor Stadium.

As you can see behind us, the skies looked threatening.

Even the view of downtown looked bleak.

Hayden was worried that it might rain.

And sure enough, rain it did. It was right about the time that this picture was taken that the skies opened and we all ran for cover.

We rode it out for about 30 minutes before they called the game and turned Wednesday's noon game into a double header.

Our Visit to Adventureland

Today, we went to Adventureland. It is an amusement park near Des Moines.

We went on the carousel first thing.

Then we hit the bumper cars. Ben drove with Aunt Michelle.

Cameron drove with Daddy.

We both drove on the motorcycles.

And we both went on the Puff the Magic Dragon ride.

Ben took Hayden on the Ladybugs, but Cameron helped from the backseat.

Since we were so close, Grandpa and Daddy took us back that night for a few hours and we went on other rides that we missed the first time and doubled back to some favorites like the carousel.
