More President's Day Projects

On Thursday, we made more President's Day projects at Joyful Noise.

First, I made these fancy stars.

Then, I made this picture of George Washington's cherry tree. He chopped it down and didn't lie about doing so.

Lunar Eclipse

We got to watch part of the lunar eclipse last night. We got to see this part, where the moon was just barely kinda covered up.

Daddy took this picture for us to show us what the moon looked like at the height of the eclipse.

Lincoln's Cabin and 15

Yesterday in school, we learned more about presidents. I built Abe Lincoln's cabin out of a paper bag.

I also colored the number 15, which happens to be my Mommy's birthday.

100 Wonderful Days of School!

Today, the kindergarteners celebrated 100 wonderful days of school at Weaver Lake Elementary. The other kids celebrated a few days ago, because we have a few more days off then they do.

Valentine's Day 2008

Valentine's Day was a fun day in our house. We woke up to a lot of Valentine's loot on the kitchen table and mini-donuts as a special breakfast treat.

We also did a lot of stuff in school. Ben made this card for Mommy and Daddy.

Cameron made this heart for them.

Earlier in the week, Cameron also made these hearts and this critter out of heart shapes.

We both had parties at school. Mommy was the leader of Ben's party and Daddy shuttled Cameron back and forth. It was lots of fun!

My School Picture

Many of you will be receiving some form of this over the next few weeks / the next time we see you, but here is a preview of my school picture. We were able to buy it on CD with a copyright release, so I can legally share it with all of you.

Two Boys in Time Out

We were both pretty bad today and spent a lot of time in time out. Daddy took this picture of us, but neither of us would look at him.

Fire Safety

We learned about fire safety at school. Today, I made a Smoky the bear (complete with coffee grounds that fall off of him) and a picture of what my house might look like on fire.

Snowman!

I also brought home this snowman that we made a while ago at school. It was hanging on the wall, so I didn't get a chance to bring it home until now.

Big Fish Under the Sea

Continuing with the theme of things under the sea, we made this big, stuffed fish at school. Here is a picture of me and my brother and each side of the fish.

Our school board wants to close my current school, Weaver Lake Elementary, and convert it into another school that my friends and I wouldn't be able to go to. Visit http://savedistrict279.com for more info.

Ringing the Bell - a Followup and a Thank You

We saw this in the news a few weeks ago: "The Twin Cities Salvation Army raised more than $9.2 million for its 2007 Christmas Campaign, a full $1.2 million above the original campaign goal of $8 million." We were pretty proud to do our (little) part of it all. Then, we got this nice letter in the mail today for when we rang the bell, and we were even prouder when we read what they were planning to use the money for.

There always seems to be a need, so if you have the opportunity to do so, please consider helping one of these programs:
Heat Share
Bed and Bread Club
Lots and lots of other programs

We'll see you here next winter!

Groundhog Day 2008

We both learned a lot about Groundhog Day this year in school. First, we both made groundhogs.

Ben even had a little song about them.

Ben also made a prediction - we'll see if he's right!

In unrelated news, Ben also was chosen to take the big version of Time Magazine home!
