The 2007 Iowa State Fair

We seem to hit the Iowa State Fair every other year, so it was time to make the pilgrimage again.

We started off the day right - by getting loads of free stuff.

Then we got to meet and greet a lot of animals. This pig was less than 24 hours old.

Everyone had to get in on the cutout mania. This time, we were pushing diary farms.

Even Hayden joined in.

Our favorite exhibit, by far, was called Little Hands on the Farm. First, they dressed us up like farmers, with Pioneer Hi-Bred hats, aprons and farm baskets.

Then, we went from station to station doing chores on the farm.

Cameron picked an apple.

We both rode soy bio-diesel powered tractors.

Good thing we practiced milking the cow at the zoo.

In the end, we took all of our crops to market and they gave us some money that we got to spend in a store on anything from loaves of bread, ice cream treats, twinkies, candy bars, just about anything you can imagine. Guess what we picked -- bananas. The lady behind the counter almost laid an egg, as we were the only kids who didn't pick ice cream treats.

Over in the Varied Industries building (read: the Air Conditioned Free Stuff place), we met Curious George at the Iowa Public Television booth.

By then, it was time to eat. With Daddy's experience at the Iowa Turkey Federation Grill, we had to have giant drumsticks.

If you watch the motorcycle show on TV, you might recognize their work on the Farm Bureau's E85 chopper.

More cut-out photo mania!

We ended the day with the big pig.

Love,
Ben and Cameron
