Our Summer Vacation: Day 1 - The Drive West

Today, we started out on our long drive to the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming. It is a long drive, so we planned on only driving to Chamberlain, South Dakota, right along the Missouri River.

We stopped a lot to break up the drive for Ainsley. Here we are at the Wantonwan rest area. As you'll see, we would actually stop here on the way home as well for a picnic lunch. Returning to where we had been was a theme on this trip.

Our next big event was actually getting to South Dakota. We were four hours into our drive at this point.
